Course Title: Addressing Tobacco Use in Addictions Treatment Through Organizational Change
Course Description: Addiction treatment programs are increasingly aware of the need to address tobacco dependence. This training will provide an overview of why it is important to address tobacco use in addictions treatment, the science of nicotine addiction, and how nicotine addiction is different and similar to other addictions. We will review a researched based implementation model for organizations to use address tobacco use in their agency. Lessons plans that integrate tobacco use into education and treatment groups will be provided.
Deb Drandoff, the presenter, has been assisting chemical dependency and mental health agencies across the state in integrating tobacco cessation services for the last 3 years, and has 6 years prior experience as a chemical dependency and mental health treatment program manager.
