Course Title: Introduction to Digital Storytelling
Course Description: This workshop, presented by Malory Graham from Reel Grrls, explores how media literacy and digital storytelling can be integrated into one program. The training will include story generation and development ideas, basic media production techniques - scripting and storyboarding, camera handling, audio/lighting production and basic editing. From this creative, idea-packed workshop, participants will come away with concrete curriculum lesson plans, equipment purchase guidelines, and the technology know-how about incorporating digital storytelling into teen programs. Participants will also get a chance to view youth-produced media and learn more about the national youth media movement. Reel Grrls is a unique after-school media and technology training program that empowers girls to critique media images and to gain media technology skills in a safe, open environment, mentored by a network of multi-cultural women media professionals. Lunch will be provided.
