Course Title: Developmental Assets: Understanding the Role of Risk and Protective Factors
Course Description: In this training, Clay Roberts does an exquisite job of describing the role that risk and protective factors have on human behavior. Participants will learn practical strategies to reduce the risk factors and increase protective factors and assets. Participants will also learn about and be able to identify the risk factors for high risk behaviors like substance abuse. Attendees will also be challenged to look at their own behaviors as they relate to young people, their community, and their agency/organization. Clay Roberts is a Health Education Consultant. He helped develop the early parent education and school components for Hawkins's and Catalano's Risk Reduction Model. Currently he is the Senior Trainer for the Search Institute Vision Training Associates. He is the developer of five national prevention models, has received numerous awards and honors in the field of prevention, been a keynote speaker at many prevention events/conferences, and done consultation work in 35 states and five foreign countries. Lunch will be provided.
